God has given women a vital role in discipling and mentoring other women in the faith. Women have unique experiences, challenges, and strengths, making them well-equipped to teach, guide, and encourage one another. Discipleship is more than just giving advice; it is about walking alongside other women, pointing them to Christ, and helping them grow in their faith.
Titus 2:3-5
“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.”
This passage clearly shows that women are called to mentor, teach, and encourage other women. Godly women should invest in the spiritual growth of other women, helping them become strong in their faith and confident in their calling.
1. Answering the Call to Disciple Other Women
Jesus commanded all believers to make disciples, and this includes women teaching other women. Discipleship is intentional—it requires time, patience, and a heart to see others grow in Christ.
Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”
Women need spiritual mentors to guide them in faith, prayer, holiness, and perseverance. Whether you are an older woman with wisdom to share or a younger woman with a heart to encourage others, you are called to disciple.
2. Teaching Women to Grow Spiritually
A disciple must learn how to seek God daily and build a strong foundation in Christ. Women who disciple other women should focus on the following key areas:
a) Teaching Women to Pray
Prayer is the foundation of a strong Christian life. Women need to be taught how to develop an intimate and consistent prayer life.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray without ceasing.”
Encourage women to:
- Set aside daily time for prayer.
- Pray over their families, marriages, and struggles.
- Join prayer groups for encouragement and accountability.
b) Studying the Word of God
A disciple must be rooted in Scripture to grow. Discipling women means helping them study, understand, and apply the Bible in their lives.
Joshua 1:8
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.”
Encourage women to:
- Read the Bible daily and apply it to their lives.
- Memorize Scripture for strength and encouragement.
- Study the Word together in groups for deeper understanding.
c) Walking in Holiness and Purity
Women must learn to live set apart for God. In a world filled with distractions and temptations, they need encouragement to stay faithful to God’s calling.
1 Peter 1:15-16
“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.”
Encourage women to:
- Honor God in their words, actions, and relationships.
- Set godly standards in how they live and dress.
- Walk in purity and integrity, even when the world pressures them to compromise.
3. Encouraging Women Through Life’s Challenges
Women face many struggles—marriage, motherhood, career pressures, loneliness, and spiritual battles. A discipler should be someone who listens, encourages, and speaks life into the women they mentor.
Galatians 6:2
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
A godly woman discipling others should:
- Pray with and for those she mentors.
- Offer biblical wisdom in times of difficulty.
- Encourage women to trust God in trials and challenges.
4. Creating a Community of Women Disciples
Women grow spiritually when they support and build each other up. As a discipler, you can create women’s groups, Bible studies, or mentorship programs where women can learn and grow together.
Acts 2:42
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Encourage women to:
- Gather regularly for prayer and Bible study.
- Mentor and disciple younger women.
- Encourage and uplift one another in their faith.
5. Sending Women Out to Disciple Others
True discipleship does not stop at personal growth—it continues when the women you mentor start discipling others. Every woman should be encouraged to invest in someone else’s spiritual growth.
2 Timothy 2:2
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful women who will be able to teach others also.”
A strong woman of God will:
- Share her testimony to inspire others.
- Teach younger women how to follow Christ.
- Encourage women to make disciples, continuing the cycle of growth.
6. Leading Women to Serve in Their Homes, Churches, and Communities
Discipleship should empower women to step into their God-given roles at home, in the church, and in their communities. Women have the ability to impact generations by teaching biblical values to their children, supporting their husbands, and serving in ministry.
Encourage women to:
- Be prayerful wives and mothers, leading their families in faith.
- Serve in women’s ministries and support other women.
- Share the gospel with friends, coworkers, and neighbors.
Final Challenge: Will You Disciple Another Woman?
God is calling you to invest in another woman’s spiritual life. Whether you are an older woman mentoring younger women, a mother teaching her daughter, or a friend encouraging a friend, you have a role to play in discipleship.
- Pray for guidance on who to disciple.
- Be intentional about mentoring and encouraging other women.
- Create opportunities for women to grow spiritually together.
Through women discipling women, the church grows stronger, families are transformed, and communities are impacted for Christ. Will you step into your calling today?
